Hall of Fame

The Wrexham A.F.C. Official Supporters’ Association honours the legends of the club through its Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame was launched on September 20th, 2003 when 20 all-time greats were inducted as the inaugural members on a very special evening at The Racecourse. A display was established in the Sponsors’ Lounge, and their feats will now be commemorated on the Association’s website, wrexhamdragons.co.uk. Every year 5 new names will be added to the Hall of Fame, to further recognise the achievements of the club’s greatest servants.

Entry will not be restricted to players; anyone who has made a great contribution to the club, in any capacity, from administrator to manager to supporter, can be considered. Some of the names are rather obvious, as a club like Wrexham will always rely on the Herculean efforts of individuals whose loyalty and desire to see the club represent the local community successfully will enable it to out-perform larger, more illustrious opponents. Some names will provoke a great deal more debate, however!

Throughout the season we’ll be featuring profiles of these Racecourse legends on our website, but don’t let us stop you from speculating over their identity in the meantime! There were many difficult decisions to be made as the list of great figures at the club was whittled down to 20, and many difficult issues had to be considered. How do you compare performances across the eras? How can a player’s entire career be assessed, when slumps of form are measured against the good times? How many non-players should be included? Should a short, spectacular spell at The Racecourse be recognised as much as a long, steady period of service to the club?

There was certainly a lively debate as the original 20 names were decided upon. Who would you come up with? Why don’t you let us know who’d you’d chose?
